Curriculum
Learning Newrite requires dedication and practice, just like any skill worth acquiring. It took many years for each of us to learn the Roman alphabet and the spelling rules of English. It won’t take years to learn Newrite, but it will take some hard work and practice.
In each of the twenty lessons in Writing at the Speed of Thought provide plenty of examples of the signs and sounds you have learned in that lessons. In the accompanying workbook you will have many opportunities to develop your ability to read and write words and sentences in Newrite. An interesting and exciting story runs through most of the lessons and helps reinforce signs and concepts learned in each lesson.
It is also beneficial to have a copy of the Newrite Dictionary accessible while working through the textbook and workbook. It is a quick and easy way to look up words that are not included as examples in the text.
As you practice, you will notice yourself recognizing more and more words at a glance. You will begin to discern and use the short forms and other common words, and your reading and writing speed will increase significantly.
You might find that reading Newrite is easier than writing it, so you might choose to focus your initial efforts on recognizing signs and learning to read. When you repeat the lessons, you will be pleasantly surprised to discover how many words you have memorized and how much easier it is to write.
After you’ve finished the textbook and workbook, the reading exercises available for download will provide you with material to practice your new skill.
While the Writing at the Speed of Thought textbook was designed for individual study, some people find that it is easier to learn Newrite in a more structured environment with an instructor to guide them and peers to collaborate with. Classes allow you to learn Newrite in a manner more specifically tailored to your learning style.
